Watch the names in Bhaktapur. Khwopa College of Engineering (TU) and Khwopa Engineering College (Purbanchal) are two separate colleges with different universities, entrance exams and syllabi. Fill in the right form.

Most engineering seats sit inside Kathmandu Valley and Dhulikhel, but there are solid options in the east and west. Studying near home can cut your total cost by a large amount, so look at the map before you look at the brochure.
What to check before admission
Use this checklist for any college, including the well-known ones above. Take a printout on your visit and tick each line.

Worked example: comparing total cost
Take two offers. College A in Kathmandu has a higher fee, but you can live at home. College B outside the valley has a lower fee, but you need a room. For each, add: total fee for four years + (monthly room and food cost × 48) + travel. Fill your own numbers from the fee schedules and local rents. The gap between the two can shrink or even reverse once living costs are added, which is why the checklist puts cost and location side by side.

Which is the best engineering college in Nepal?
There is no official ranking. The IOE constituent campuses and Kathmandu University are well known and competitive to enter, but the right college for you depends on your branch, budget, location and entrance rank. Use the checklist above.
Are affiliated college degrees the same as constituent campus degrees?
Yes, in the sense that the degree is awarded by the same university with the same syllabus and university exams. Teaching quality, labs and fees differ between colleges, which is what you need to check.
Why are there two Khwopa colleges?
Both are undertakings of Bhaktapur Municipality. Khwopa College of Engineering is affiliated to Tribhuvan University, and Khwopa Engineering College is affiliated to Purbanchal University. They have separate admissions.
