Writing amounts in words the Nepali way
Cheques, bills, tender documents and measurement books in Nepal need the amount written in words, and they use the lakh-crore system rather than millions and billions. This tool writes any number up to 15 digits in Nepali words (एक लाख पच्चीस हजार), in English words using lakh and crore, and in the international million-billion style for foreign clients. It also converts digits into Nepali numerals (०-९).
How to use it
- Type the number. Commas are ignored, and Nepali digits such as १२३४ are accepted too.
- Choose Rupees amount to get "Rupees ... Only" with paisa, or Plain number for quantities.
- Press Copy next to the version you need and paste it into your cheque, bill or Word file.

How is 1,25,000 written in Nepali?
एक लाख पच्चीस हजार. In English with the lakh system it is One Lakh Twenty-Five Thousand.
Why are the numbers 1 to 99 all different words in Nepali?
Unlike English, Nepali has a separate word for every number from 1 to 99 (for example ५५ is पचपन्न and ७८ is अठहत्तर), so they have to be learned or looked up. The tool uses the standard spelling for each.
